The First Candle (November 29)
First Reader: In the Season of Advent we prepare ourselves for the coming of the Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ, into our world. During Advent this year we are celebrating an Advent of Peace as we light the Advent Candles and focus on different aspects of God’s peace that can come into our lives through Jesus Christ.
Second Reader: One aspect of peace that Jesus brings is personal peace. In Psalm 34 the Psalmist calls on us to depart from evil and do good, to seek and pursue peace.
Third reader: I light this candle for the peace in our personal lves that Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, brings to us.
Prayer: Lord God, You are the author of peace, and You have sent Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, into our world. Let us be filled with Your peace in our lives, so that we may seek and pursue Your peace in our world. In the nme of Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, we pray, Amen.
The Second Candle (December 6)

During Advent this year we are celebrating an Advent of Peace as we light the Advent Candles and focus on different aspects of God’s peace that can come into our lives through Jesus Christ.
Second reader: (Light first candle) I light this candle for the peace Jesus brings to our lives.
Third Reader: Jesus not only brings peace to our personal lives, but He also brings peace in our Church. In Colossians 3 Paul tells us to let the peace of Christ rule in our hearts and in the Church, His body.
First reader: (light second candle) I light this candle for the peace in our Church that Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, brings to us.
Prayer: Lord God, You are the author of peace, and You have sent Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, into our world. Let us be filled with Your peace in our lives and in our Church, so that we may seek and pursue Your peace in our world. In the name of Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, we pray, Amen

Third Reader: Jesus not only brings peace to our personal lives and in our Church, but He also brings peace in our community. In Romans 12 Paul tells us to live in peace with all people.
First reader: (light third candle) I light this candle for the peace in our community that Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, brings to us.

Third Reader: Jesus not only brings peace to our personal lives, in our Church, and in our community, but He also brings peace in our world. In Isaiah 9 Isaiah speaks of the kingdom of God peace that Jesus brings.
First reader: (light fourth candle) I light this candle for the peace in our world that Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, brings to us.
Prayer: Lord God, You are the author of peace, and You have sent Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, into our world. Let us be filled with Your peace in our lives, in our Church, in our community and in our world so that we may seek and pursue Your peace. . Christ Candle (Christmas Eve)
First reader: In the Season of Advent we prepare ourselves for the coming of the Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ, into our world. During Advent this year we are celebrating an Advent of Peace as we light the Advent Candles and focus on different aspects of God’s peace that can come into our lives through Jesus Christ.

Second reader: Hear how Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, came into our world as we read from Luke 2:1-7:

“1In those days a decree went out from Emperor Augustus that all the world should be registered. 2This was the first registration and was taken while Quirinius was governor of Syria. 3All went to their own towns to be registered. 4Joseph also went from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to the city of David called Bethlehem, because he was descended from the house and family of David. 5He went to be registered with Mary, to whom he was engaged and who was expecting a child. 6While they were there, the time came for her to deliver her child. 7And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in bands of cloth, and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.”

(Light the Christ Candle) Tonight we light the white Christ Candle in the center of our Advent wreath and proclaim that God’s will for peace and salvation is the center of our lives, our Church, our community and our world .

First Reader: The birth of Christ is God’s great gift of salvation and peace!

Second Reader: Let us pray:
Emmanuel, God with us, Your birth is Bethlehem brings peace and salvation into our loves, our Church, our community and our world. Let us receive this peace and share it with the world in all we say and do. In the name of Jesus Christ, the rince of peace, we pray, Amen.
